Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Souvenir medallion struck for the 1878 Exposition Universelle at Paris, France. The Expo celebrated the recovery of France after the devastation of the 1870-71 Franco-Prussian War, which saw Paris besieged for four months. 30.5mm struck in Bronze, dies by Barre of the Paris Mint. Presumably edge marked however I did not remove it from the original holder to check. This same Obverse design used in a different size to strike similar pieces for other Expos, such as the 1889 dated piece I offer as a separate listing. Extremely Fine (Good VF for our non-U. S. viewers), signs of some very light hairlines, whether from obvious carry in pocket as a souvenir, or a very light, very old cleaning. Still attractive. PCGS will normally certify this piece, and I assume NGC will as well, should you desire to submit for grading. 0324-98 Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase.
