Description: For sale is a vintage SMITH'S combination set of HARD/WASHITA sharpening stone in Cedar box. Stone is 6" x 2" x 1" with a Hard Arkansas on one side and a coarser Washita on the other. The stone comes from a deposit of NOVACULITE around hot springs of Arkansas. The light colored stone is Hard Arkansas while the darker side is Washita. You always start with the Washita side to remove the metal fast and then finish with the Hard Arkansas side to get a sharp edge. Use water or oil for a lubricant. Thanks for looking.
