They were not finished to a high gloss making them look artificial - they are more realistic looking because of their more natural finish. The carvings weren't glossed over with a heavy shellac and as small as they are, that makes them much more "real" !! The unique carving around the top of the heels sets them a step above the usual klompen and the toes curve up. Each clog measures about 8" long, 3" wide and 3 3/4" tall.
