This print is personally hand autographed by the artist. This image features an old hand cranked Singer sewing machine sitting in an upstairs sewing room just as it was left many years before. The sewing machine is amazingly detailed in rich black enamel and ornate gold leaf. A wicker sewing basket sits nearby. On the table to the right there are spools of thread, thimbles, a measuring tape and and a rare metal "sewing swift" (a small metal bird used as a third hand) with tiny red pin cushion. Next to that is a black dress with lace collar on a mannequin. The sewing machine table features a strip of more lace, a red and green "tomato"pin cushion as well as another formed out of metal in the shape of a swan. You'll be amazed at the detail in this piece which is accurate down to the tiny numbering on the measuring tape, individual pins and needles and the "spider web"-like thread stretched taut leading to the needle. Amazing detail... all hand painted by the artist.Though the room is obviously showing signs of age, it also speaks of the quality of craftsmanship valued by its' owner. The leaded, beveled glass work above the window seat on the far left is a testimony to a time when such things were a priority.As with all his work, you'll want to look for the artists' trademark "Tom cat."
