ITEM DESCRIPTION: Here is an Absolutely Sweet & Charming Rare OOP (Out-of-Print) Antique/Vintage Circa the 1910’s-20’s Color Collotype Lithograph Depicting a Young Ballerina at Her First Recital, titled, "Debut", after the painting by well known listed painter ‘Simon (Szymon) Glücklich’ (German, 1863-1943), whose printed signature appears lower-left in the image area. Publisher & Print Info: The publisher's copyright, name & location, ‘Copyright by Ludwig Möller, Lübeck’ (Northern Germany), appears printed lower-right in the image area. Glücklich used this little model for a few different paintings, and one particular ‘Portrait of a Young Girl’ in the same hat & dress as our image (kinderportrait), was evidently sold at auction. We purchased this print a very long time ago directly from the well-known publisher/importer & art dealer, Rudolf Lesch Fine Arts Inc., 225 Fifth Ave., NYC, whose name is written on the back upper-left. ‘I. Printed in Germany’, appears printed lower-left in the outer margin corner area. This Litho would make a wonderful addition to any ballet collection or children’s recital/dance collection, child’s room etc. The Litho is printed on a nice medium-heavier weight cream-colored wove paper stock. Size & Condition: The size with wide margins is 24-5/16” x 17-5/16”, Image size is 19-5/8” x 13-1/4”. The Collotype is in Excellent Rare+ condition for its antique/vintage age with no color fade—beautiful rich color! This Litho has been tucked away in our archive amongst other prints & lithos since it was purchased by the Meibohm family and hasn’t seen the light of day in all this time—it’s as beautiful as the day it was printed and is as good as any collector could hope to find in its original never-framed condition. Simply beautiful! No tears! Extremely minimal (maybe a dozen or so) very tiny & faint foxing specks here & there on the sheet which are hardly noticeable in the margin areas (none noticeable in image area) and are completely negligible and not even worth mentioning. Extremely minimal (only a few) small & very slight crescent-creases here & there in the image area which aren’t even noticeable either (except from behind) and aren’t worth mentioning either. Other slight minimal creasing here & there in the outer margin areas, along a few edges and tiny dog-ear creasing in a few outer margin corners—all of which are completely negligible as well since the outer margins can easily be trimmed off or matted & framed out. Extremely minimal slight outer margin edge-wear with some dents & dings here & there—also negligible. Very slight topical soiling (very lightly grubby) noticeable only here & there in the outer margins from age and from being in a drawer this whole time amongst other lithos & prints—also negligible (not noticeable at all in the image area). It appears that at some point a long time ago that the Litho may have been slipped into a mat, as there is slight toning just around the image area, but there is no evidence of tape/hinging to the back of the piece(???) and I’m not sure if it was a part of the print-process possibly(???), who knows…but is also completely negligible and easily matted out. This beautiful antique/vintage litho has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade. What a Beauty!!!
