The token may have some toning due to age. Sierra Sid's released $7 Silver Strikes in 1993, $10 Silver Strikes from 1994 to 2007, and $200 Strikes 2002-2007. NOTE: Many of the first silver strikes in circulation (1992/1993) did not have protective plastic capsules. They were added to the hopper just like any other coin or token. Scratches, toning, and fingerprints are very typical of silver strikes from this first generation. What is a Silver Strike?A Silver Strike is a Limited Edition Gaming Token which is won from a special slot machine and is in a protective plastic holder. People from all over the world collect, buy, sell and trade these unique gaming tokens. The first Silver Strikes were won from special slot machines in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada in 1992. The tokens have been issued with redeemable values of $2, $3, $7, $10, $20, $28, $40, $200 and $300. The most common denomination is $10. The older Silver Strikes have a higher silver content. As the price of silver increased, the silver content decreased. Today, most strikes are Clad - brass with heavy silver plating. Sierra Sid's:Sierra Sid's Casino is located at 200 N. McCarran Blvd., in Sparks, Nevada. It's a truck stop, casino, restaurant and gift shop along Interstate 80 just east of Reno, Nevada. Sid Doan leased the restaurant, gift shop and casino rights from Union Oil and opened the doors in 1972. He had a reputation for honesty and over time developed a strong following. He had a collection of guns and memorabilia from John Wayne and Elvis Presley that are still on display today in the casino. The casino is about 6,000 sq. ft with about 120 slot machines. Sid sold his truck stop operation to Travel Centers of America in 2002 but retained the rights to the casino. Sid passed away in 2006, his daughter Marcy currently operates the casino.
