SHOWCASE 73 - Cover art by Steve Ditko. 1st appearance of the Creeper in The Coming of the Creeper!, script by Steve Ditko (plot) and Don Segall (Dialogue), art by Steve Ditko; Professor Yatz is kidnapped by "Reds"; Jack Ryder, mouthy TV host, is fired, then hired as a security investigator; He buys odds and ends for a bizarre costume for Devlin's society ball; He's stabbed and thrown in Yatz; Yatz hides his inventions: a molecular transmitter goes in the wound, and a healing serum in his veins. CREEPER 1 - "Where Lurks the Menace?" The Creeper battles The Terror, who has been shaking down local mob bosses and using insider information to gain protection money. The Creeper wins the fight, of course, unmasking The Terror in the process. Script by Denny O'Neil (as Sergius O'Shaugnessy), plot, art, and cover by Steve Ditko. CREEPER 2 - "The Many Faces of Proteus." The Creeper seeks the identity of and battles Proteus, who can change his appearance at any time. Proteus changed himself to look like The Creeper and committed a murder on television, forcing Creeper to try and clear his name. Script by Denny O'Neil (as Sergius O'Shaugnessy), art and cover by Steve Ditko. CREEPER 3 - "The Isle of Fear." Weather girl Vera Sweet disappears while on a story, prompting The Creeper to rescue her. This leads to a remote island, where villains have enslaved the locals. Script by Denny O'Neil, art and cover by Steve Ditko. CREEPER 4 - "Which Face Hides My Enemy?" The Creeper investigates a pair of mysterious visitors from the country of Offalia, who claim that Proteus was their secretary of state and that his appearance-changing abilities were a secret. The Creeper links Proteus with cult leader Yogi Bizerk. Script by Denny O'Neil, art and cover by Steve Ditko. CREEPER 5 - "The Color of Rain is Death." In pursuit of Proteus, The Creeper follows a number of different people prior to finding the real deal. The ensuing battle reveals the identity of Proteus to The Creeper, but finds our hero awaiting death by drowning via a cliffhanger ending. Script by Denny O'Neil, pencils by Steve Ditko, inks by Mike Peppe. Cover by Ditko. FIRST ISSUE SPECIAL 7 (Oct 1975) - "Menace of the Human Firefly!" The Firefly escapes Gotham Penitentiary while Jack "The Creeper" Ryder is visiting the facility. Naturally, The Creeper comes under suspicion. Script by Michael Fleisher, pencils by Steve Ditko, inks by Mike Royer. CONDITION: I am not a professional grader. Stock first photo shown above with photos of the actual issues for sale following. Still stapled very securely, tight binding. Paper still supple. Comic(s) have been stored very carefully in bags and boxes away from sunlight in a smoke-free environment. These decades-old comic(s) still look very nice! Note that the centerfold of Showcase 73 has become detached from the lower staple.
