This basket would have been used to hold food and drink requiring refrigeration for a picnic. The oak cooler style basket was handmade using 1 inch wide oak splints. The oak cooler style basket has a 1 ½ inch wide oak splint that is attached with copper tack joinery. The basket has a carved bentwood oak swing handle that is attached with rivets.
