Description: You are purchasing a: Sheila's Wood Figurine Decor VICTORIA 1890's: Charlotte, North Carolina Victoria is one of the few survivors from Tryon Street, which in the 1880's and 1890's was the center of Charlotte's most fashionable residential district. Most of the other fine old houses were destroyed to make way for progress. This home managed to survive only because it was moved to a new location. Victoria was originally one of a pair of identical residences built by a local businessman, R. M. Miller, for his two sons - R. M. Jr. and John W. The two houses were built to complement one another. The eldest son's home was destroyed, but John's was saved when it was mule-hauled several miles to its present location. Victoria is one of the last survivors of Charlotte's nineteenth-century past.
