Description: This colorful vintage Shafford teacup and saucer was made in Japan, but it pairs well with English rose bone china, brightening up the other cups that have white backgrounds.The cup is 2 1/8" high, 4 5/8" with handle, and the saucer is 5 1/4" wide. it holds 5 1/2 ounces, just under the usual 6 ounces. I noticed two things on examining: the cabbage rose may be a peony, with stamens in the center, and there is a tiny chip on the gold rim that was glazed over. It's in an angle of the scallops on the rim, but when I felt it carefully I decided it was there in manufacturing and they just left it under the handpainted gold trim. Accordingly, I'm offering it at a lower price. One of the things I like best about this cup and saucer is its cheerful warm glow on a dark winter's day, especially filled with my favorite tea!
