The lens is recognized as the best available for Super 8 cameras, the camera fits perfectly in the hand, it is quiet, durable and long-lasting thanks to its large battery. The viewfinder is pleasantly large and sufficiently bright (better than on the 4008) despite the slightly older matte screen (which can be swung out). The camera and the lens are in excellent condition (some few sings of use at the body of the camera) and fully working, also the motorzoom, metering, film movement. The camera has been serviced in 2024. Six months functional warranty from the date of purchase. The glass is clear - no blemishes, chips or scratches. No haze, fungus, whatsoever. Just some little spots of dust. The focus ring is smooth and comfortable to use. Some modifications have been made to this 3008_S: the servomotors have been removed, the camera has been re-greased and adjusted. The battery was recelled and you get a new charger with it (at 110V the battery is fully charged in about 8 hours, at 220V in 4 hours). When it is fully charged, you can expose approx. 15 film cassettes.This 3008 also has a special feature: you can operate the camera completely manually, as the zoom and aperture motors have been removed. The camera is therefore light and easy to handle. The correct aperture setting is displayed in the viewfinder via an LED (it goes out when the aperture is set correctly). You can of course also determine the aperture with an external light meter and then set it on the lens. The built-in daylight filter has been removed and the lens recollimated. The motor for the sound module still works (always runs quietly as soon as the main switch is switched on) but of course no longer has any function. I think the 3008 (as the 5008) has some advantages over the 4008: it is quieter, it fits better in the hand (because the handle can be gripped with the whole hand) and it has a larger standard battery (twice the capacity). At the same time, the 3008 is just as solid and easy to maintain as the 4008. The disadvantages are easy to name: it is larger/heavier and does not offer slow motion.Ideal for professional filmmakers, as you can easily set the aperture and focal length manually and are not dependent on (often annoying) automatic functions.
