Author Biography Ive been a truck driver, a farmer, an environmentalist, and a mother of sons all grown now. Im a hugger of trees, lover of old folks, history, quirky science, and books. My mothers parents were restaurateurs and I like to try new recipes, although they dont always come out the way I expect. Im deeply concerned about human resiliency and how families and communities contribute to it-or not. Because I grew up in one, Im particularly interested in extended families who have close relationships with the places where they live. As a farm kid, I got a hands-on introduction to one three-quarter-section piece of land-not by riding over it on a tractor, but by walking every hill and fencerow. Its provided me with a strong concern for the health of that land and the entire planet. I must have my hands in the dirt, so every summer I disappear into my garden(s) where I grow fruits and vegetables as well as flowers.. I live in town now, but my favorite parts of my double corner lot are the native grass and wildflower plots. Theyre nearly self-sustaining now. Review Faith Colburns See Willy See is living proof that something new can be done with a familiar story . . . . This story will resonate especially with readers of Cather, or Steinbeck, or (more contemporaneously) Ted Genoways. -- Charles Peek, author of Nebraska for Poetry Chapbook and University of Nebraska English professor emeritus.Colburn is adept and authentic in her colorful descriptions of crops, farm land, jungles, mountains, and encampments. In high style, she captures the essence of season end harvest, long boring ocean trips, high temperatures sweats, and cruel, grueling battles. She takes the reader on a bobbing and weaving global ride based on thorough research as well as a family connection. -- Connie Spittler, Southwest Book of the Year and Eudora Welty Fiction Award winner. The descriptions . . . are loaded with sights, tastes, smells, and feelings that are palpable. -- Jim Arrowood, blogger Details ISBN0997267747 Author Brittany L.
