A superb Highland Targe (Shield), traditional Celtic design from around 1745, the Targe is 18 inches in diameter and is a fully functioning battle targe, it is made from layers of cross ply, adhered to at 45 degrees to the layer below, thus building in strength. The front is real leather, with hand tooled Celtic design and studded with Brass studding, this example has a small sheath on the rear to store a central spike, to be fitted in times of War. A true heirloom quality item. Ideal for Scots Worldwide or Highland enthusiasts anywhere. Alba gu brath! This is intended for decorative purposes or for wear with full Scots Highland Dress, the targe is constructed to the highest possible standards the front is real leather, with intricate Brass Studding in a traditional design, the rear is lined with Red Deer Hide, as can be seen has a forearm strap and a hand grip. It has been constructed to a highest standard and is extremely robust and intended for everyday use and wear, it is fantastic quality, made of Wood and Real Leather, studded with Brass decorative studding.
