Stephen Thompson (1831-1892), London photographer; traveler and photographer for the British Museum; author; lecturer and art critic Peter Ewing started out as a woolen-weaver in 1851 eventually becoming a bookseller & stationary dealer in Kinross then later at Callander, Scotland. During this time, he was also active as a photographer participating in the salons of the Royal Photographic Society in the 1860s. His son, also named Peter, was a noted naturalist. Send questions.
