Description: For sale is Science Fiction Review #34, February 1980, edited by Richard E. Geis Book features interview with Donald A Wollheim (DAW Books) and Charles Sheffield, profile of Harlan Ellison. Stephen Fabian cover art. Tons of reviews. Geis' fanzines were full of highly opinionated, insightful, argumentative and entertaining material. From 1967, for nearly 20 years, Psychotic, The Alien Critic and Science Fiction Review et al. were focal point fanzines. Big-name authors and fans were regular contributors or wrote major letters of comment. The zines were filled with controversial views and reviews. Some often resulting in highly emotional feuds. Perhaps the most memorable aspect of the zine were its editorials. Geis kept his "psychotic" personality in these by making them conversations (sometimes even arguments) between himself and his "Alter Ego" personality. He was nominated for Best Fan Writer from 1970-1986 missing only 1972 and won in 1971, 1975, 1976, 1977 (tied with Susan Wood), 1978, 1982 and 1983. The Alien Critic won the Best Fanzine Hugo in 1974 and in 1975. Science Fiction Review was again nominated from 1976-1983, winning in 1977 and 1979. In all, he received a astonishing total of 30 Hugo nominations and 8 Hugos.
