Description: For your consideration are a matched pair of vintage Staffordshire Spaniel mantel dogs by Arthur Wood, England, in a scarce and rarely seen solid deep royal blue glaze. A large and substantial set, the dogs stand approximately 11.5” in height, measure 9.5” wide, and 4” depth front to back. The muzzle of the left facing dog has a small speck of glaze skipping that occurred during firing that measures roughly 1/32” in diameter, and light uniform crazing is beginning to form on each dog. Neither of these imperfections are casually noticeable, obvious, or distracting. Otherwise their condition is exceptional with no chips, cracks, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found. Wear is commensurate for age and history of gentle display use so please regard all of the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing.
