The egg features a stunning all-over muted color hand-painted finish with gold thread accents and a tremendous amount of small detailed Japanese 'tsumami' (Japanese art of hand folding small silk pieces to create something, which is used in expensive hair ornaments, etc.), which also create fabulous 3-D nature scenes. The egg is a very rare one of a kind find crafted in the United States in the mid-1980's by a local Southern CA Japanese artist, who also owned a famous high end arts and crafts Japanese supplies store and taught numerous classes. This is a rare one of a kind masterpiece, which is so difficult to create. I learned how to make these tiny 'tsumami' pieces, which are mainly used to create high end Japanese hair ornaments known as 'kanzashi' for apprentice geishas known as 'maiko,' Kabuki actors, elaborate wedding & celebration accessories, etc. This treasure is a great piece and true work of art to procure because you will seldom see it.
