Description: This vintage real photo postcard features musical comedy actress and dancer, Sadrenne Storri (1899-1918). She was also known as Sadie or Saddie Storrie. Her parents were both actors. She became well known for her dancing in "The Pearl Girl" (1913). The "Playgoer and Society Illustrated (1913) reviews the production. Stars in the play included Miss Iris Hoey and Miss Cicely Courtneidge. The review states "some exquisite dancing is contributed by Miss Sadrene Storri". In 1915, she married George Cecil Murray Tinline who appears to have suffered PTSD (shell shock) type symptoms during World War I. By 1917, she petitioned for a divorce.Tragically, Sadrenne died in 1919. I have been unable to find her cause of death, though the third wave of the Spanish flu hit England the year of her death. She is mentioned numerous times by the London Times during the 1910's. The National Portrait Gallery has five photo portraits of Storri in their collection. All of the photographs are by Alexander Bassano. Miss Storri appears quite pretty in this postcard photo. She is posed in a risque manner. She has bare shoulders, a long draping necklace, and a "come hither" expression. It is unfortunate that pretty woman were commericialized this way. One must remember that she was only teenager when this photo was taken. It is very tragic that this talented actress and dancer lived such a short life. This British made postcard was published by Samuels as part of the Arcadian Series (No.17-17). The postcard also has a Rotary Photo logo. Miss Storri was photographed by the studio of Foulsham & Barfield.
