Ruth Stiles Gannett / My Father's Dragon c 1948 1st Ed HB/DJ Scarce

Description: New York: Random House, 1948. 8vo, 87 p., original plain white cloth. First edition, later printing, circa 1955 based on jacket price of $2.95, of this scarce children's book, the first in the series of Dragon titles that Gannett would produce over the years, with the charming illustrations by Ruth Chrisman Gannett. This is a VG- copy, with light soiling to cloth and board edges, two small paper clip rust marks to upper rear board, and a bookplate to verso of fep, with light wrinkling to pages adjacent as a result but otherwise solid and clean. Jacket is also VG- with chip out of lower front jacket corner, patch of chafing to upper front panel, short (1/2" to 1") closed tears to lower edge front panel, chipping to spine heel, but overall presentable with original price of $2.95 present, and now ion protective mylar jacket. The first printing was bound in yellow cloth stamped in green, but all early printings are surprisingly rare. Please email any questions and thanks for looking!
