Description: Soviet Russian USSR WWII Bravery Medal with serial number in the 150-thousand range (on a replica quad suspension), researched, awarded in 1942 to Guards Senior Sergeant Vasily Mitrukov, a machine gunner on a bomber aircraft (TB-3 or DB-3)! He served the 750th Long-Range Aviation Regiment, 3rd Guards Long-Range Aviation Division. Mitrukov was part of the bomber crew of Hero of the Soviet Union Aleksei Petushkov and is named in the citations for both Petushkov's Order of Lenin (1942) and Hero of the Soviet Union (1944)! Mitrukov was awarded this Bravery Medal in the summer of 1943 for 95 nighttime combat missions since the beginning of the war, including 8 strikes deep in enemy territory: Bucharest 13 Sept. 1942, Warsaw 20 Aug. 1942, Konigsberg 20 July, 22 July, and 9 Sept. 1942, Danzig 26 Aug. 1942, and BERLIN on 17 Aug. 1942. Mitrukov had previously been awarded an Order of the Red Star in October 1941. That award was most likely presented to him in the Kremlin. In 1944, Mitrukov earned the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class for a total of 155 combat missions to that point, of which all but 8 were nighttime. Extremely rare award on numerous counts: aerial gunner, early nighttime missions, early strike on Berlin, and Hero of the Soviet Union crew!! Condition is as seen in the images! The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously! If you require confirmation in advance, please send me a message, and I will gladly provide images. Over time, I have found that redacting award serial numbers in certain listings (particularly of researched awards) has acted a simple and effective filter to sort good customers from troublesome eBay hooligans. Reasonable, rational collectors who are genuinely interested in the history represented by an award will make the effort to reach out and will quickly find that everything is in order. Winner will be provided with archival research (34 pages - including serial number documentation, documentation on the presentation of the award to the family, Citation, and a full Service Record) in electronic format, unredacted, in color. Additional references on Petushkov are available. Professional English translation of the Citation and presentation documents is available if requested before receipt of item. No returns. All questions in advance. I will answer all coherent, respectful inquiries to the best of my ability. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING AVAILABLE only through eBay’s Global Shipping Program (GSP). With this program: once the item is delivered to the address to which eBay directs me to ship, all responsibility for final safe delivery of the item to the buyer becomes eBay’s.
