Rudolf Paul Hirschenhauser (1882 Mokrin / Hungary - after 1938 London) was a historical, portrait and landscape painter working in Vienna until 1939, after which he emmigrated to London. From 1901 to 1907 he received training as an academic painter at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He took part in the exhibitions of the greatest Austrian exhibition hall "Vienna Kunstlerhaus" as well as in the exhibition of the "Vienna Secession" in 1913. After the Anschluss (Annexation of Austria in 1938) Rudolf Hirschenhauser was declared a Jew by the Nazi regime and subsequently left Austria for London in 1939 (*Provenance Research and Restitution in the Austrian Federal Collections). While interned at the Hutchinson Internment Camp (1939-1941), he contributed a number of his works to its art exhibitions. Condition: good condition, matted, unframed.
