Description: Wessington Springs is a city in and the county seat of Jerauld County, South Dakota. The townsite was founded in 1880 and platted in 1882, early in the era of agricultural settlement in the region. The town’s boom era began in 1903, when a branch line of the Milwaukee Road railroad was constructed into town from the east. The town was the home of Wessington Springs College, and institution of higher learning that existed from 1887 until 1968. I found references to the Spring that still runs in the city park but that was all. No history or information other than that. The Real Photo Card was published by the “Co-M0 Co, Postcards, Minneapolis” and is dated 1919. It is in good condition with minor wear on the corners and edges. The image of the Springs is clean and clear as is the reverse. The “Co-Mo Co.” was owned by H.P. Montgomery and published regional view-cards as tinted halftones and more unusually as real photo postcard from 1919 to 1928.
