Description: CAT BOUQUETIERE Desvres French Faience Rare BUD VASE Figurine Signed ROUEN 19th C This is a Desvres French Faience CAT BOUQUETIERE or PIQUE FLEURS, a Flower Holder Bud Vase, made in the Desvres region. This CAT BOUQUETIERE (or Pique Fleurs): - Includes a figure of a whimsical standing cat, which has has six holes on the back to sprout the buds; - is modeled in deep relief; the hand painting, décor and glaze are very well done, in the style of Fourmaintraux faience;. - is decorated with stylized floral accents, and a typical color palette of Desvres, including a creamy white background decorated with blue, yellow, green, iron red, and magenta; - has a maker’s mark of ROUEN, 1684, and A3, under the glaze on the underside of the belly; - is unglazed on the underside base of the feet. This Desvres Style Antique CAT BOUQUETIERE or PIQUE FLEURS is in very good condition. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, glaze losses, firing flaws, crazing and fretting. Overall, this work is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations.
