With the Heritage Pulley project we wanted to engineer and craft something that was familiar and identifiable as a VW or Porsche style pulley. More than anything else, we wanted to make a better pulley. We started by looking at the billet alternator pulleys that were on our cars and available on the market. Our experience had been less than positive in most cases - Aluminum securing nut models failed routinely at about 200 miles. Large, square boss units seemed like a good idea but they didn't fit stock shims. Most of these units were a copy of a copy - each executed as something lesser than the one before. The Ross Wulf pulley diverts from the lineage of inferior billet pulleys pedaled by others. This is a contemporary idea created from the ground up using the sound engineering principles of heritage VW and Porsche pulleys. Couple our first-class engineering with the signature Ross Wulf flare for elegant design and machining, and you have it - The finest billet pulley available for your air cooled VW.It takes great design, machining, and superior materials to make the finest pulley available. We start the machining process with T6 6061 Aluminum that is as strong as structural steel, and we sandblast each part before we anodize. It will sparkle like jewelry and outperform all others both aesthetically and mechanically. The three stainless anti-vibration bolts secure the two pulley halves together, and the pulley acts as a single unit - this ends the possibility of wear between the pulley halves that is common in other designs.
