Description: You will receive one (1) 12-inch ROOTED Cherimoya Seedling. Fruit is NOT INCLUDED. With proper care, the plant can produce fruit in 3-4 years. It can also be used as rootstock. Unlike other listings, these are mature plants that have been growing for over a year. This means your plants will be much more sturdy and established. Perhaps they can even be grafted if you know what you are doing. About the Fruits Cherimoya are typically heart-shaped and about the size of a large apple. They go for high prices at the supermarket, if you are even able find them. They are commonly eaten when soft and ripe, chilled and scooped out with a spoon. The flesh has the creamy, custard-like texture reminiscent of a ripe pear or papaya. It is sweet, acidic, and tangy all in one mouthful, with tropical flavors such as pineapple, banana, and even strawberry and kiwi. It is a unique combination. You have to try it! About the Plant Cherimoya plants originated from Peru, Columbia, and Ecuador. They are a very aesthetically pleasing plant, with nice, broad leaves. Cherimoya enjoy partial shade and are fast-growing. They can grow up to be 35 feet tall, and can start producing fruit after 2-5 years. Fruit usually requires hand-pollination. These plants can be grown to full size for fruit. Or, if you have a specific variety in mind, these are also great for grafting -- cherimoya plants are known to be one of the strongest and healthiest rootstocks for grafting varieties of the Annona genus onto (for example, the sugar apple, custard apple or sour sop). They prefer a summer temperature of 65-80F, and a winter temperature of 41-65F. If winter temperatures in your area dip below 25F, you can take your plant indoors and keep it near a bright window. Please note: This listing is not for selling the cherimoya fruit. You will receive a plant for growing. Also, seedlings are not always similar to their parent plants. Will be shipped bare-root with a bit of substrate. Pot and soil will not be included. You provide soil and pot. Full instructions to care for the plant will be included with order.
