Description: MARVEL COMICS "I went with a preconceived idea to ['Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3'] and James Gunn has managed to surprise me for good. It is darker and has even touches of terror, but it is still very funny and with a lot of personality. Rocket and Nebula excel in a very dignified send-off." - Jesus Agudo, movie critic, in a Tweet relating his experience after seeing GoTG Vol 3 at an early screening on 22 April 2023 Marvel Cinematic Universe MCU Comic Book Cover Art KeyGUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, VOL 3 The third and final chapter of the Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy debuts in early May 2023, and with it comes a send-off for the characters once painted as MCU's most unlikely to succeed candidates. Unlike Marvel's other heroes that have enjoyed their own cinematic trilogies, the Guardians -- or at least the roster of this iteration of the Guardians -- won't be continuing into future films. Given circulating rumors that one if not more of the characters will die in the film, GoTG Vol. 3 really will be "The End." As most MCU fans know, Vol 3 focuses on the origin of ROCKET RACCOON and his tortuous creation at the hands of the film's villain, the HIGH EVOLUTION-ARY. It's the Guardians mission to confront the High Evolutionary that creates the peril for the heroes, and why many believe Rocket himself is among the characters who won't survive the film. Indeed, trailers for the film have revealed scenes of Rocket's captivity and experimentation to such as extent that it truly seems as though his fate may be sealed. In Marvel's comics, Rocket Raccoon has been a key player in a total of nine (9) Guardians of the Galaxy series and five (5) self-titled series including Rocket Raccoon and Groot (2016). And while Rocket's been featured on many a comics' front cover, none of them have been more spot-on -- if not uncannily predictive -- of Rocket's story-arc in GoTG Vol. 3 than this premiere issue of his own series' third volume. As the quote at the top of this page suggests, GoTG Vol 3 definitely makes an impact on its audience. We'd say David Nakayama's cover art for Rocket Raccoon #1 does as well, the imagery palpably evocative of what we'll witness in director James Gunn's last MCU adventure. If you're a Rocket fan, this is one book you'll be glad to have in your collection when the film's end credits begin to roll.
