After attending the Sofia Art School he graduated in 1994 in graphics at the National Art Academy. Since then -- although virtually still unknown in the United States -- he has established a world-wide reputation working in printmaking, painting, video, and installation art. His artistic venues have included Germany, China, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, and Bulgaria. He has won over 20 prestigious international awards. His work has been viewed many galleries, public spaces and museums including the Bulgarian National Museum of Natural History, the Beijing National Museum, the City Museum of Varna, the Frederikshaven Mogosoaia Museum, and the Malbork Castle Museum. Participating in the 2013 Venice Biennale Baramov's "Declaration of War," protested Bulgaria's reluctance to support the participation of a number of Bulgarian artists in the Biennale. His action presaged further protest actions in the name of artistic freedom since then.
