Crenshaw which references The Crenshaw Battery, which was commanded by Cpt. Wm. G. Crenshaw, which is also mentioned within the book, along w/a manuscript note stating that Cpt. Crenshaw was Sidney Briggs' great uncle.NOTE: Although he was born in Virginia, Briggs (1902-1988) spent most of his life in Texas, and at the time of the famous explosion of the S.S. Grandcamp & the S.S. High Flyer in Texas City in 1947 and resulting firestorm, Briggs was Manager of the Fire Prevention & Engineering Bureau of Texas. Briggs was also a lifetime enthusiast of Texas Civil War and Frontier history.
