Description: Revell Vintage Decal Sheet 5405 — 1:90 Columbus Sailing Ship (1979) Santa Maria (MPN 1814) This is the original Revell decal sheet from a perennial model-ship builder favorite, the Santa Maria. Decal is unused, in superb, glossy, as-new condition (there is some yellowing of the backing paper after 42 years in storage), flat, no cracks, ready for application. Size of decal sheet is 5⅞″ X 3″. The Santa Maria (also called La Gallega) was the largest of the three sailing ships (with the Niña and the Pinta) that Christopher Columbus employed in his 1492 voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to discover The New World. She ran aground on the shores of Haiti on Christmas Day, 1492. She was partially dismantled to provide lumber for constructing Fort Navidad, Spain’s first colony in the Americas. If you’re like me, you have a lot of models you built as a kid that you would love to go back and redo correctly — and that includes redoing the decals. Now you can!
