She spent her early years “in the kitchen” learning how to cook at her mother’s side in the family restaurant, “Eddie’s”, named after her father Edward J. Bonnecaze, Jr. Marjorie took her cooking skills to LSU as a dietician where she shared her love of cooking with the LSU athletes. She and her staff of 25 employees were responsible for providing nutritious well-balanced meals to all football players, basketball players, track stars, gymnasts, and others – seven days a week, three times a day, plus pre-game meals. Prior to her position at Broussard Hall in the LSU Athletic Dorm, she spent several years at University High School. Ironically, many doctors who cared for her in recent years were her students. During her illness, these doctors so kindly reminded her of their memories of her years in the cafeteria where she prepared “those delicious cinnamon rolls” along with daily lunches.
