Many times we don't because the added cost is a deterrent. Reefing Concepts has tried to balance the best of both worlds by making a cost conscious, sturdy solution to help make the protection more attainable. Another aspect most don't realize is that when snails crawl into the bump and their shell hits the blades, that vibrating sound you hear is not only annoying, but its damaging your pump! Reefing Concepts anemone guard addresses this issue with extra protective spokes on the output to prevent 90% of your cleanup crew from being able to crawl into the pump. This design improves the factory guard in several ways: - Additional spokes prevent critters from being able to climb into the pump and damage the blades - Thicker stream lined spokes are less prone to breaking and have little affect on flow performance - Smaller openings on the suction side prevent critters from being sucked into the pump blades - Closer tolerances between the pump blades and the housing focus the water stream out the front of the pump, preventing back-cycling and increasing flow velocity. - PETG plastic construction makes the guard stronger and less brittle than the factory pump - This guard is STRONG and compliant; Its built to last! These guards are direct REPLACEMENTS for the factory Ecotech guard and they install in the same way as the stock guard. Simply un-twist your factory pump guard by holding the base and rotating the guard clockwise, slide it off and slide this new guard on, locking it in place by twisting it counter clockwise. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT FITMENT!!! It was brought to my attention that this guard may not fit older versions of the power head. IF you have a Ecotech Pump that has a white controller, depending on how old it is, this may not work for your pump.
