Description: On 9-14, the price was reduced by $100. This huge Petoskey Stone weights about 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was found near Petoskey, MI. The stone is about 7 1/2” wide x 6 3/4” deep x 3 3/4” high as shown in the first photo looking down on the stone. It has been ground and polished, by hand, on lapidary equipment. No “coating” has been used. All photos were taken outdoors in the shade. Photo 13 shows the bottom of the stone which for the most part has been left natural. Photos 14 to 19 show various other side and bottom views. The photos show the entire stone. As can be seen, this is 100% Petoskey Stone! Stones of this size and quality are very, very rare! In 1965 the State stone of MI became the Petoskey. The stone is fossilized rugose coral Hexagonaria. I have been collecting these stones for over 50 years; regarding size, this stone is in my top 5. If you have any specific request for natural or polished Petoskey Stones please send me a message. I do not use anything to enhance the color or anything else regarding my stones. They are collected and left natural or are ground and polished.
