Description: RARE vintage c.1930s FRENCH BULLDOG crumb/table brush. Delightful Art Deco-era novelty crumb brush, with hand-painted celluloid bulldog handle mounted on rustic straw brush. The little bulldog wears a natty uniform-like outfit, with waistcoat, shirt, tie, jacket and peaked beret or cap. There appears to be some sort of rattle inside the Frenchie's head. The origin of the piece is unknown, but possibly French. Approximate dimensions: length 19.5 cm; width of brush at base 8.5 cm; length of dog handle 6 cm; width of dog's head 4 cm; depth of dog at deepest point from tip of nose to back of cap 3.5 cm. In very good condition commensurate with age and use, as per photos, with a little fading to the colours on the handle. The small cotton ribbon that wraps around the base of the celluloid handle (where it feeds into the brush) is worn as shown. A really charming and unusual vintage piece. All items being sold are my own, or from friends and family, given to help with the upkeep of rescued animals in my care. Please note that I use recycled packaging wherever possible.
