Description: Rare Russian Silver 3 Compartment Coin Holder 20,15,10 Kopeks.Hallmarked City of Kiev, HW. 84 Beautiful Hand Engraving Excellent Antique Condition Circa : 1895-1899 Weight in Total : 43.56 Grams Here we have a very rare Russian hallmarked silver Coin Holder from the city of Kiev, beautifully engraved in German : Viel Kleingeld haben, translated Have a lot of small Money, and Thut Sohr behagen, Very Comfortable.(Google Translate) I have no idea why the engraving is in German only that it was obviously in the possession of a German during troubled times, I’m sure with a fascinating history. The coin holder also has a very nice large shield / Cartouche which is empty. I have not been able to find the meaning for HW. However I believe its the assay office. The coin holder also has the numbers 20, 15, 10 which is the value of the Kopexs coins it holds. Condition Its a very attractive unusual piece, all the springs are working in three coin holders and functioning perfectly, No missing parts, breakages or repairs, it does have a few dents & dints on the base of the holder and a few minor scratches which is consistent with the use and age of this piece. Its marked with the HW. & the City of Kiev double headed eagle and on the side of the 2O Kopexs holder is stamped with HW, 84 and the Kiev City double headed eagle, very clear and deep marks. Very Nice genuine example of a Russian Kopexs coin holder.
