Lippincott,--1878 - 1st edt.LARGE size= apx 11.75" x 8.75" -with 120 pages, binding: -hardcover with gilt lettering and picture; - printed for private circulation [very scarce book] from wiki: Robert Ogden Tyler (December 31, 1831 – December 1, 1874) was an soldier who served as a General in the Union army during the American Civil war. He is best known as the commander of the Artillery Reserve of the Army of the Potomac, including at the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863, where many of his batteries played important role in the Union victory. Tyler later led a division of heavy artillery turned infantry during the Overland Campaign of 1864, when he was badly wounded and relegated to administrative duties for the duration of the war. His wartime injuries contributed to his declining health, and Tyler died in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 42. He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Before he died, he was able to complete his autobiography. I am human and sometimes miss a thing or 2, but I try to mention the book's main faults. all of my books are VERY OLD and have 100+ years of wear to varying degrees very good plus condition.... for its ageboards /covers - secure /back cover looks very good / gilt has small amount of fading / some bumps to the front cover edgestextblock- pages very secureouter joints- good spine ends- good, with a bit of wear tips- a wee bit worn- -top ones bentinner hinges- good pages- very clean, but UNCUT, as in...never read! The paste downs and free endpapers are black for some reason [glue they used?]writing- see last picture, inscription from George F Tyler [a relative?]rips /folds- none that I saw other- former library - small sticker on the spine, 3 date stamps, title page blind stamped - New England Historic Genealogical Society, plus the sticker in the fronta "must have" for your library! please Add me to your Favorites list AND check back now and then to see what's new!
