Description: Up for sale i have a rare original NOP&L interurban railway lantern in good solid condition. The frame is in good condition with old paint and wear. The top of the lantern has some dents and bends. There are no drill holes or rusted out spots. The burner has a small amount of liquid in it, i am not going to try to open it. The wick is stuck and i did not try to force the thumb screw to move it. The globe looks heavily worn but i think the marks are in the glass and not on it. There are a few tiny chips around the top and bottom edges of the globe but nothing that would be visible. This lantern is a nice piece of history that would be great for any railroad collection. The Akron, Bedford & Cleveland Railroad merged with several other area railroads to form the Northern Ohio Traction & Light Company around 1900. It operated several rail lines and served Cleveland, Canton, Akron, Massillon, Uhrichsville, Wadsworth, East Greenville, Kent, Ravenna, Alliance and Warren. The Ohio Supreme Court adjudicated on a suit by a county to terminate the company's franchise in a dispute over passenger fees. In 1926 the operation was renamed the Northern Ohio Power & Light Company. It consolidated with Ohio Edison around 1930 and its rail lines were discontinued by 1932.
