Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase - Raised Panel - Signed by Ando

Description: The vase is unusual as the Ando artist applied a metal panel with a floral design on the body of the vase and applied a beautiful translucent green enamel highlight. The raised floral design is bordered within an oval scroll design. Other examples of this design have been seen over the years, however, in many examples, the translucent enamel highlights is damaged as the raised design becomes very susceptible to damage. In this example, the vast majority is intact which is very rare. This exact piece is illustrated on page 33, in Chapter 6, entitled, “Imbedded Cloisonne Enamel” which explores various examples that incorporate design elements that has been added on top of the foundation. The Ando trademark is formed in wire on the bottom base with “Made In Occupied Japan” underneath. A copy of page 33 from the reference book will be provided to the successful buyer. The height of this vase is approximately 7.25 inches The width of the vase is approximately 3.0 inches This vase will be double boxed and packed with tremendous care.
