Description: welcome to my ebay store I have been collecting mostly FRENCH porcelain by VION BAURY and JACOB PETIT for many years and have decided it is time to downsize much of it. This is a spectacular super rare Inkstand or Encrier of porcelain made by jacob Petit in France, consisting of two main pieces fitted with two lidded removable pots. It features a porcelain figurine of great detail featuring two little boys in a scuffle, dressed in period appropriate attire. I suspect it is an older brother giving a younger brother what for judging by the body language! He has his arm back ready to hit, with the other boy crying uncle! The figurine is attached to base with original brass hardware, the base marked JP. The pots and lids are removable, one for ink, one for sand/powder. Approx 9' Wide, 9" high. The front of the base area designed to hold quills/pen.See all photos, when I bought this piece it had an old repair on one side that I have never really noticed and left it as is. There is a small chip of what is probably the repair material, I took close up photos and measurements all around so do look. These super rare early J Petit pieces usually sell by antique dealers for $1200 to over $2000. I price it accordingly w old repair in consideration, still a terrific value for such a rare encrier. Amazingly the boys hands are intact which is usually the part broken or missing. Ships from my smoke free home. Shipping reflects need of a 14 cube size box with peanuts etc. I may double box this piece for safer shipping.
