Description: Rare French- German Made, American Eagle-Head Sword, 1800 To 1840 with Scabbard. Made for the American market, approximately half of the blade and spine etched with military trophies and longnecked eagles. The mounts showing remnants of guilt and the scabbard body of browned iron with brass mounts, one hanging ring missing. Checkered Ebony grip with beautiful guilted brass appliqué featuring stars and federal Eagle. A rare sword well worth restoration. Overall good condition, nice patina, missing the knuckle bow small dent to Brass chape. Scattered pitting and area of light pitting at tip blade modeled surface. 99.2 Overall in scabbard, blade 82 cm. See Mowbray, “The American Eagle Pommel Sword” for similar examples. Another collector on eBay has brought my attention to the Bavarian Model 1833 Landwehr Officers saber that also has a lot of shared elements with this sword. For the American market and appears to be a rare bird. See photos for greater details. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Sale Final. No international sales. Buyer pays all return shipping, if required. Quinn Studios.com
