Description: Early Ballesteros Taxco "Hand Made" mark Necklace and Earrings Set Wonderful Aztec motif inlay faces. Jalil Majul Ballesteros learned jewelry making from his grandfather and in 1937 moved to Taxco to start "Talleros de Los Ballesteros". The hallmark on these pieces pre-dates even the rare circular "Taller Ballesteros" mark and that pre-dated ther well known ornate "B" hallmark introduced in 1937. The screwback earrings were converted to pierced in the early 1990s and require repair. Luckily, the newer studs were attached with silver solder and not lead solder making the repair much more straightforward. Repairs are easier using today's laser fusing technology - which I do not have access to. This is an extraordinary, wonderful example of the Ballesteros family's earliest work, which favored traditional Mexican designs. Quite a special find!
