Rare c1920s PETER THORVALD JENSEN Art Deco AIRPORT Plane Air Show ETCHING w Cars

Description: ORIGINAL PETER THORVALD JENSEN (1895-1965) AIRPORT AIR SHOW SIGNED LIMITED EDITION DRYPOINT ETCHING This is just a great original piece. I have held onto this etching for many years as I always figured out I would be able to figure out what the location and scene was. Alas, I have failed in my mission and just decided to list the print and hopefully someone else will know what the scene is. If you do, I would really appreciate an email. Thorvald Jensen is a somewhat obscure artist who was born in Denmark and eventually ended up in both Wisconsin and worked with the Prairie Print Makers. He also spent time in California where he did etchings for the Print Makers Society of California. Based on the details of this image, I would say it dates to the 1920-1930s era. A wonderful Art Deco Airport Terminal, cars and planes that date to this era and the dress of the pilots and people you can see in the image do as well. A wonderful image of people gathering to watch the air show. A crisp dark image measuring 7 7/8 x 10 inches on sheet measuring 9 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches. Signed lower right and numbered lower left in pencil. It says it is in an edition of 100 so I am shocked I cannot find another example. There is a faint consistent toning box from what was the original matte. A couple small marks in the upper margin and some skinning of the very bottom of the margin from early taping into the matte. Really overall, it is a wonderful scarce Art Deco historical image. Back shows some residual tape issues. Ready to be matted and framed. FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES!
