Description: Rare postcard, and rare picture, with the USS Holland (SS-1) - the US Navy's first commissioned submarine. Commissioned Oct. 1900 and decommissioned July 1905. The postcard is postmarked 1905 so likely the photo is from around the time it was being considered for decommission in 1905. Good condition especially when considering its age - good color and minimal blemishes. One small tear and some light stains but these are not very noticeable on the face. 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" with a gloss finish.
