Description: Up for auction a Rare Antique Simpson Hall & Miller Co Quadruple Plate Thermometer. Circa 1880's. This is a beautifully artistic piece with a monkey walking a dog. Included is an excerpt from an 1891 catalogue showing similar pieces, but I believe this one was an earlier piece. High quality, detailed work for this age of manufacturing. Quite ornate. I was unable to find the exact year of manufacture, but patent date on thermometer used is 1885 / 1886. See Maker Mark on bottom: Simpson, Hall and Miller Co with Quadruple Plate in circle. Size is approximately 7" wide x 8" tall x 4" deep. This has been in my collection for a long time and I have not ever seen another one like it.
