Description: The Bartender's Friend by A. Mixer and Patrick W. Guinee. "A compilation of the best in mixicology from reliable sources, both new and old, and particularly from the formulary of the famous old Grand Opera House Bar, Syracuse, New York". 170 numbered pages + additional unpaginated blank pages for notes. Some B&W illustrations. This antique book houses the formulary of the Old Grand Opera House Bar in Syracuse, as well as some drinks from the Old Iroquois Bar in Plainfield, NJ. They are listed alphabetically. Contains the most popular + more obscure drink recipes of the early 1930's, "in the days when drinks were drinks". Light soil on some pages and front cover due to heavy usage while preparing drinks. A great deal of writing throughout, as the previous owner added many recipes. See photo #15 where the title and copyright pages have been torn out. No page tanning. Pages are extra thick, very sturdy material. Extremely sturdy book with excellent structural integrity. This antique item has been professionally cleaned by a Pennsylvania restoration company specializing in old books and magazines. (See company's info in last photo.) This book only had one printing, so it is a 1st edition. Copyright 1933 by F.I. Brown. Published by Jarmor Publishing Co. of NY, NY. Guaranteed original. Very rare book.
