Description: Rare 1926 Vermont Hire License Plate Original Early Vanity Plate Embossed Metal Exceedingly rare license plate. A true piece of transportation history. What I've gathered is that these were temporary plates given to residents of Massachusetts and New Hampshire allowing drivers, usually chauffeurs, access into a certain mileage zones of Vermont. I am unsure to the accuracy of that, but this is what I have gathered from the research I have done. The plate has been partially painted over at some point in its life. It was also framed and glued to a matting. There is glue residue on the reverse. It appears that this plate would have been yellow with green borders and letters.
