Description: For sale is a superb little porcelain pendant made by the famous Girl in a Swing factory at St James by the Huguenot Charles Gouyn who formerly was a founder along with Nicholas Sprimont of the famous Chelsea factory. St. James is famous for their toys - miniature items like snuff boxes, perfumes, seals, etc. and was around from about 1749-1759 so not long at all! This piece here is a pendant in the form of a scottsman with his bagpipe. These were often also made into seals but this one is just a pendant! Great detail and painting plus the silver mounts. A ring to the bottom in silver and the piece to attach the chain on top. The piece is in superb condition with a bit of paint wear on his left knee and the left side of his jacket. A bit of white showing on top of his hat where the silver is attached. And some expected oxidation of the silver which is an easy fix if that is what you want :) There are minute spots of gilding left on the silver so it was at some point gilded over. The pendant is not marked which is the norm but it does say En amitie ! underneath. French for in friendship I believe. The piece is 1.125 inches tall including the silver ring on top and the bottom has a diameter of 0.625 inches or so. Remember the pictures are very enlarged.
