Description: Maker: England's iconic china company Royal Crown Derby produced this lovely and rare antique cup and saucer set. Age: The red Royal Crown Derby mark on the reverse of both pieces was in use between 1877 and 1890 at the company's Osmaston Road factory. The English pattern registration number 33641 also appears; it indicates that the pattern was registered in 1885. The red date mark under the main mark dates this set's production specifically to 1886, making it 137 years old. Source: Royal Crown Derby website; thepotteries.org. Design: The beautifully detailed pattern is called Osborne, which was produced in multicolor and blue variations as well as this wonderful red version. Condition: Both pieces are in excellent condition for their age with no marks, nicks, cracks, discoloration, stains, crazing or repairs. There is light wear to the gold trim on both pieces and a small chip on the saucer's underside rim - that's shown in the photo with the red arrow. Size: The saucer is 5 1/8 inches wide and 1 inch deep. The cup is 3 1/4 inches wide and 2 inches tall. The set weighs 7.4 ounces.
