RADIO SHOW: 10/7/86 THIS WK '70: SUGARLOAF,CHRISTIE,CSN&Y,DAWN,FREE,JAMES TAYLOR

Description: GREETINGS FELLOW COLLECTORS OF GREAT MUSIC AND RARE CLASSIC RADIO SHOWS! PLEASE DON'T FORGET MY SPECIAL OFFER OF A TWENTY PERCENT DISCOUNT WHEN YOU BUY FIVE ITEMS OR MORE AT ONE TIME FROM MY STORE. IT IS THE LEAST I CAN DO FOR ALL MY FRIENDS WHO, LIKE I , ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A GREAT DEAL SO HERE IS THE BIG QUESTION: WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW? WHY COLLECT THEM? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them. Radio Shows are syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break. Many air on Saturday or Sunday evenings or during overnight segments. They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others. People collect them for various reasons. Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all. Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music. Rather than an album by the artist or a compilation bought at Wal Mart or downloaded through iTunes or wherever, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj comments which were very entertaining. Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments. Some collect commercials especially old car commercials but certainly not limited to only those. AND, these shows are in limited quantity. They were pressed just for syndicated stations in the United States. Many have just a few still in circulation. Some of the more popular shows may have as few as a couple hundred of each week's show pressed but think about it. A couple hundred for some 200 million Americans and millions of overseas collectors who look for unique presentations of their favorite artists or form of music is about as rare as rare can be. This show itself was only ever sent to the top 175 Metro markets. Smaller markets had to take the satellite feed once it became available. So at the very most there were only 175 copies of each show EVER. How do you compute rareness. 175 copies for the whole United States market and 25 years ago or more means that could possibly not be ANY more of these shows and at the very most there are 175 . How many survived as did the ones I have is anyone's guess. This is because most stations just threw these away after network broadcast since they could not be aired again because of the dated commercial content and most stations had limited storage space. (Believe me I know I work at one!) So it is likely that very few still exist and they are increasingly hard to find. They were first distributed on reel to reel tape if the show goes back that far into the 60's, then later on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR. Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your music from iTunes. These shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them and the people who sell them, like me, are running out of them. My best radio station contact for these shows is out of shows and I am at the mercy of finding a good deal here and there but never from a regular source and maybe not from a radio station but other collectors. The shows that you get now and hold on to will never decrease in value and only increase. I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money. I sell them for near what I bought them for. I give volume discounts and discount postage always. As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years have decreased. And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over ten thousand unique shows, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had. Finally, it is Americana at its best. Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown. And you just can't find them anywhere. Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any. Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of music radio. And every one you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions in the hundreds at most and most, like this special show, much less. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life! Welcome to the Club! My prices are guaranteed to save! Others say they are the lowest for radio shows on the internet - compare shop. Add their prices and shipping costs and compare with mine. You WILL save and the more you buy the more you save. And check my feedback. That says it all. I will make you happy. Now let's talk about this great series, SOLID GOLD SCRAPBOOK Picture yourself back in the late 50's or 60's, even the 70's. You were at one with to your transistor radio listening to the top 40 presented by your local radio station. You had that radio glued to your ear or connected with the little earphone jack that immediately broke. Your local dj was great. He knew the music. He had the gift of talking which rarely occurs anymore. You loved the presentation of the music as much as the sounds. You liked the station jingles. And on weekends when the local dj's had off, you listened to either taped shows they did during the week to be played on the weekend or a syndicated radio show featuring one of the greats. It was the golden age of rock. Music was king and the dj's were just as popular. You can relive those days whether you grew up then or just wish you had, on only a handful of oldies shows. THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Most of you who know me, collectors who have dealt with me over the years, know that my favorite series of all time is this, Solid Gold Scrapbook. One of the things this oldies radio show series did best was its specialty theme shows. Billing itself as the "Pop Music Almanac", Solid Gold Scrapbook prided itself in being the definitive oldies show on the radio. For a hour each day, five hours a week, for over 8 years, show hosts brought the best of music, interviews and information. This show is a great example. Solid Gold Scrapbook shows are a testimony and legacy to the early rock era. These are the real oldies! And they can be yours - music, interviews, and all the expertise of show host Dick Bartley and his fellow dj hosts, all experts on rock music. It is a great variety of music along with RARE interviews and fun facts. You will hear super great tunes and the best part is that you can hear them again and again, over and over, whenever you want. Dick Bartley and his crew were masters at it. Whether through him when he hosted the show or through his dj’s who came after him, you will enjoy the great production values of this series from beginning to end through over 1000 different shows over 7 years. Best of all, it is vinyl and virgin vinyl at that usually played only the day it aired. This series is by far the best and most comprehensive oldies series that ever aired on American radio largely because since it was aired for an hour daily, they could delve into these themes more thoroughly than could a dj on a weekly three hour generic oldies weekend show. You will not hear many of these songs or themes on any other show which is another plus. Again, because it was an hour for each theme, they had the time to play not only the top hits but more of the hits that are less often heard but still loved and remembered. All the artists featured in this series helped define rock music through their work You will hear not only great tunes. but also interviews and stories about the artists and their music that you have never heard before. The soundtrack of our lives were shaped by this music Even Dick Bartley's update of this show, American Gold, does not have the huge variety of themes that this series had. It was something only Solid Gold Scrapbook did and these shows are masterpieces. They belong in your collection! THIS SHOW WAS TITLED, "THIS WEEK IN 1970" and aired on OCTOBER 7, 1986, ALMOST 32 YEARS AGO and focuses on A TRIBUTE TO GREAT TOP MUSIC FROM ONE WEEK IN THE EARLY ROCK ERA, THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD AND THE HISTORY OF YOUR LIFE AND ALL IN A ONE HOUR TOTAL SPECIAL TRIBUTE. IT MOST DEFINITELY BELONGS IN YOUR COLLECTION! THE CONTENTS OF THE SHOW CAN BE SEEN IN THE LISTING PICTURE. It comes on one stereo lp album and aired on the United Stations Radio Network You will hear great unique and rare interviews on this seminal show WHAT MEMORIES IT WILL BRING BACK TO YOU. IT IS AN AMAZING HOUR OF MUSIC, COMMENTARY, INTERVIEWS, FUN FACTS, AND ENTERTAINMENT! YOU WILL ENJOY EVERY TIME YOU PUT IT ON YOUR TURNTABLE. IT IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL MUSIC PRESENTATIONS AND IT CAN BE YOURS IN YOUR COLLECTION. Dick Bartley was the originator of the whole series and its host for most of the seven years it was in syndication. There were two other hosts in the series, Mr. Music, Norm N. Nite who was one of the major influences in the origination of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a long time dj at WCBS-FM in New York and, for the last two years of the show, Dave Charity. All were great dj's in the style of the dj's we were used to hearing and who you don't hear anymore especially if you do not have an oldies station anymore as most of you do not as the oldies demographic becomes less and less in favor with money grubbing station owners. You have to go to internet radio to find most of these songs since current oldies stations that still exist consider oldies to be the 80's and 90's. (Except for my AM 5000 watt station which you can also hear on the internet if you do not live in the Central Florida area. Just go to Facebook and Mike in the Night for details) The lp is in excellent, new, pristine condition. It is a quite attractive lp considering it was originally pressed to be played only once. CHECK THE PICTURE!!! The cue sheet comes with this show and is also in excellent condition. Please note that occasionally you will see these shows bunched in weekly groups and sold that way. However, in that case you have to buy all five shows that aired that week just to get the one you want. For over 25 years I have sold them individually to collectors so that they can get the music they want and only the music they want. In fact, any of you who had to buy the weekly box to get the show you wanted, I will buy the unwanted shows from you for the prorated price per show and make them available to other collectors who might want them. There is nothing worse than a record you don't need or want. When you buy only the show you want, you and I are both happy! Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs that only Dick Bartley and the gang can provide. Also, keep in mind that this and all the oldies shows are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere. It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining. As well, it is a piece of radio history. You just aren't going to find these shows anymore. Think of what they will be worth in a few years! (IF you wanted to sell.) I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price; in fact, believe it or not, I paid a lot more than you will for most of these shows than you will. As always, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy for U.S. buyers and for my international friends, so the more you buy the more money you will save. Good Luck and God Bless You.
