Description: This is a custom 1/6 scale 11" figure commemorating one of the most colorful, interesting, and fierce women in history, Queen Boudica of the Iceni in England. She was said to have been a striking woman, very tall with a fierce glance, and red hair down to her hips. Around 61 AD Queen Boudica ruled beside her husband King Prasutagus over the Iceni tribe of East Anglia. In an effort to curry favor with the Romans, King Prasutagus would name his daughters as co-heirs with the Roman King Nero. Prasutagus felt like this move would keep his kingdom, wealth, and household safe from Roman attack. Roman Governor Suetonious Paulinus had other ideas. When King Prasutagus died his kingdom was plundered by Roman officers and their slaves. Paulinus went further having Boudica flogged and her daughters raped. Other Iceni leaders suffered the same treatment. This treachery caused Queen Boudica and the Iceni as well as other leaders and tribes to revolt against Roman rule. Queen Boudica's rebel army had some massive victories at Camulodunum (Colchester), Londinium (London), and Verulamium (St. Albans). Queen Boudica's army gave no quarter to the Romans they faced. The rebel army sacked and burned those towns they conquered. Paulinus and his forces retreated back to the Roman military area to regroup. The crisis caused Nero to consider removing all Roman forces from Briton. Once governor Paulinus had regrouped with an army of 10,000 regulars and auxiliaries, with the backbone being the 14th Legion, he attacked. Though badly outnumbered the Roman army was winning the battle. Queen Boudica and her daughters sought to rally the rebel forces. Queen Boudica told the rebels- "win the battle or perish: that is what I, a woman will do. you men can live on in slavery if that's what you want". The massive size of the rebel army worked against them. The Roman cavalry was able to circle and attack from the rear. Queen Boudica took poison rather than surrender to the Roman forces, but she had secured her place in British folk history. The fierce, brave, warrior queen who took on the powerful Roman Army would never be forgotten. Please note that while this figure does not look exactly like Queen Boudica, there is a bit of a resemblance. this figure is a bit of a challenge trying to pose hands holding weapons but the figure displays nicely. sold as is.This figure is designed mostly for display (fairly articulate) and would make a nice addition to any collection. stand included. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thank you for the look, enjoy shopping!
