Description: Although it sold very badly when it was published, "The Legend of Nick Detroit" has become one of the most-sought after editions of the original PUNK Magazine. The contents consist of a photo comic strip, starring many musicians from the CBGB/Max's Kansas City club scene of the mid-1970s. Aside from the main star, Richard Hell, the supporting cast also includes Bob Quine, Lenny Kaye, the Talking Heads, The Marbles, Robert Gordon and Tuff Darts, Legs McNeil (who also directed the photo comic), Judy LaPilusa, Helen Wheels and many others. Most of the photos were taken by Roberta Bayley, along with Chris Stein of Blondie. Several of their images became icons of the punk rock scene in New York City.
